Tash Rabat
The main reason to visit Tash Rabat is the small but excellently preserved stone caravanserai, which occupies a stunning location perched on the hillside in the Tash Rabat Valley. A caravanserai is an ancient inn, used by travellers and merchants along the ancient Silk Road. The Tash Rabat Caravanserai dates back to the 15th century, but it is said it was built on the site of an ancient monastery dating all the way back to the 10th century. Accommodation here is in a comfortable yurt camp, which is open to tourists from June to September. For those who do not wish to stay overnight in a yurt, it is possible to visit as a day trip from Naryn, located around two hours away. In addition to visiting the Tash Rabat Caravanserai itself, there are also opportunities for hiking and horse riding in the local area. Tash Rabat is located at an altitude of around 3,200m.
