Hike in the Ala Archa National Park

The Ala Archa National Park is a scenic alpine park located about 40km south of Bishkek. The park gets its name from the archa, brightly coloured junipers, which are found all over the park, and which local people believe keep evil spirits away when burned. There are a number of hiking trails in the park, ranging from an easy stroll alongside the river, up to more challenging full day routes. A popular walk for those looking for a bit more of a challenge is the steep ascent to the Ak-Sai Waterfall.
