The capital and largest city in Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek is a pleasant Central Asian city resting at the base of the Tian Shan mountain range. Bishkek is not a large city, most of the main sights are centrally located close to Ala-Too Square and can be seen in a day. The city has a laid-back atmosphere and an abundance of green spaces, making Bishkek an ideal start or end point for a Silk Road adventure. The scenic Ala-Archa National Park is just outside the city, and can be easily visited as a half or full day trip from the capital.
