Travel along the Karakorum Highway

The mountain passes through the Karakoram long played a crucial role on the Silk Road. People have been travelling through the area for centuries, and this can be evidenced by the ancient pathways carved into the mountains. Today, travellers can make the same journey on a 1,300km highway linking China and Pakistan. Since its completion in 1978 the Karakoram Highway has been coined the ‘Eighth Wonder of the World’. The road passes through some dramatic scenery with no shortage of pristine glaciers, alpine lakes and snow-capped peaks. Its rightfully regarded as one of the world’s best road trips and is a highlight for those travelling to Pakistan’s Hunza Valley or beyond.
